About the artist
Hilma af Klint was born into a naval family and showed early talent in art and mathematics. After formal art training, she became a successful portrait and landscape painter but secretly pursued spiritualism and abstract art. Influenced by Theosophy and her own mystical experiences, af Klint believed her abstract works were guided by spiritual forces. She created over 1,000 works, many organized into thematic series, reflecting her quest to understand the universe’s unseen dimensions.
