Wassily Kandinsky
Wassily Kandinsky, a Russian painter and art theorist, is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of abstract art. His exploration of color, form, and abstraction revolutionized modern art.

About the artist
Wassily Kandinsky initially studied law and economics but turned to art in his 30s after being inspired by Monet’s work. He became a central figure in the early 20th-century art movements, co-founding Der Blaue Reiter and pushing the boundaries of abstraction. Kandinsky believed that color and form could communicate profound spiritual truths, and he developed a theory of art based on the interplay of visual elements. His time at the Bauhaus refined his understanding of geometric abstraction, and his writings, including Concerning the Spiritual in Art (1911), remain influential. Kandinsky’s works are a testament to his belief in art as a universal language.
